I may be the only person that does NOT like this time change. I mean of the two to pick from.....I'd pick the other one. When everyone else gains a hour of sleep, it only means to me that I'll be up earlier. I feel more exhausted from this time change then the one in the spring. Maybe because I wake up at the 'Normal' 4 a.m. which is now the 'New' 3 a.m. At least in the spring when we lose a hour of sleep and I look at the clock and it shows I've slept in compared to the day before....my body and mind agree. So, I feel rested. Now when I look at the clock my body and mind say, "If it were yesterday at this time you'd still be sleeping". See my point? I've layed and argued with myself and have come to the conclusion....I'm not going to win so just get up. Then I give myself that eye roll, head shake, sigh that I knew was coming. We've been through this before. You'd think I'd learn after all these years not to argue with myself. Hey, can't blame a girl for trying.

Last of fall harvest
I always know the canning and freezing is coming to an end when I do squash. I'm so glad at this point to see the squash. Don't get me wrong, I had fun with the garden this year and all the canning. But there comes a time when you know you've had enough fun. Permanently stained thumb and fingers, dried tomato seeds found in your hair or on your skin, and lets not forget that most wondrous body spray we wear that takes till Christmas to wear off......Onions & Garlic. (That reminds me, need to plant onions next year so don't have to run to store every other day during salsa time). I do love seeing all that I accomplished and worked hard for each time I open a jar during the winter.
Spent some quality time with my girls, son-in-law, hubby, and the pugs this past weekend. We carved pumpkins and had a blast. Afterwards we watched movies and ate popcorn. Good ole fashioned quality time with the ones you love. It just doesn't get any better then that. Puts everything life deals you into perspective and shows you what is truly the most important.

Possibles Bags / Make-Up Bags
Anyhow, this is what I've been sewing on lately. They are quick and simple. Easy to work on while watching TV in the evenings. They are made of fabric and have a batting between the layers and fabric lining. Easy to toss in the washing machine. I love using these for my make-up. Either for storing them in the bathroom or tossing it in my purse. I have another for all the "Possibles" I may need that I carry in my purse. Maybe I should rename them "The Possibles Bag".

Sticks Don't Walk!!
I had to post this to show you what sometimes happens to me during my day. As I had said in the previous post, I have been living in the kitchen canning and freezing. I have been getting jars that have been stored in boxes outside in sheds or garages. When I am in need of more jars, hubby will bring in a couple boxes and I proceed to wash them up and keep on canning. This particular day was very productive. I had caner after caner going and was excited at the idea of my kitchen counters being empty for even 1 day. I headed to the freezer, for what I still don't remember, and was stopped dead in my tracks. Well, not exactly dead. "Dead" doesn't scream and jump and yell out "EWE EWE EWE GET IT". I was startled to say the least. There on the wall about 5-6 inches up from the floor was this.......

"Are you kidding me!!" A walking stick! Sticks don't walk. They shouldn't walk!! How am I suppose to NOT be afraid of this thing on my wall when its just plain freaky. Hubby was home (God knew I couldn't deal with this alone) and came to my rescue. I know he was giggling or at least smirking but he bravely through himself in front of this beast and protected me from what I know would have been horrific. My instinct was to smash it till it looked like "road kill" on the floor but hubby grabbed a newspaper instead. Good idea I thought. Save the floor and squish it in the paper. NOT. He proceeded to get the beast onto the paper careful not to hurt it (against my better judgement). Once the "thing" was on the paper, he did what I still cant believe. He walked it outside. "Are you serious"?...is all I could think. KILL IT KILL IT is what I wanted to scream. But knowing hubby the way I do, he did exactly what the "calm me" would have expected. He set it on the deck rail.

There it is. Safe, resting, plotting its attack on me....Ok..so its not that bad. But it's just plain freaky to say the least to see a stick, then see it walk. What next, are the trees going to reach out and pick up this walking stick and claim them for their young? I tell you it could happen.....in my world. (hehehe)

Baby Quilt
Wow...Has it really been over a month since I wrote anything in here? I have or had good intentions and all the ideas are still in my head....somewhere. I have been slowly trying to get back into sewing. I was successful for a little while. I have been working on the Hugs-N-Kisses baby quilt a little bit at a time.
I'm Outline Quilting the top with my machine and then adding the binding when it's all done. I can handle the small baby quilts this way. It's just not "sewing time" (winter cold weather) in my mind yet and I have had a few things that took top priority. Seeing the picture below...need I say more. When its canning time...all else halts and you live in the kitchen.

I have 3 tomato zones.
#1. Large table in the garage (All Green Zone)
#2. Table in the office in the house (first sight of red they are moved here)
#3. Counter top in the kitchen (All red and need close watching)
Makes things much easier this way. When the table in the office has openings, hubby will bring in a 5 gal pail more from the garage, now that the cold weather is here. I know I get flushed red cheeks when I'm warm so I figured tomatoes would too. HEHEHE. So far my list of canning and freezing is growing everyday. When I'm all done I'll post my list of Yummies.
